The lyrics for Road Kill were hatched on a vodka soaked napkin on a flight between Los Angeles and Stockholm, in July 2001. All hell was breaking loose, personally and ultimately, internationally. Things just got crazier and crazier. I had know I idea that I would be immigrating to Sweden and remaining there for 17 years and counting...
lyrics
ROAD KILL
(Strider)
Too far down this dead-end road
I'm a lost and lonely child
Got skid marks on my eyelids
And fractures deep and wild
I tried to play by the so-called rules
I tried to court my friends
But the more I tried to play it straight
The more my mind got bent
I feel like Road Kill, Road Kill
Slaughtered in cold, cold blood
I feel like Road Kill
Face down in the mud
Well, I used to think I knew my way,
but I don't know where I'm goin'
I feel like Road Kill, Road Kill
With all my insides showin'
Huh!
Got the buzzards circling over me
They can smell the walking dead
They can't wait to land on me
As the life force leaves my head
But I ain't checkin' out just yet
I still got room to fight
I'll lick my wounds and resurrect
Like Lazarus tonight
I feel like Road Kill, Road Kill
Slaughtered in cold, cold blood
Feel like Road Kill
Face down in the mud
Well, I used to think I knew my way,
but I don't know where I'm goin'
Feel like Road Kill, Road Kill
With all my insides showin'
Huh!
(Instrumental solo: Pelle Jernryd - electric lap steel guitar)
And I dream of sweet transcendence
From this barren, bitter town
This home of raw ambition
Has finally brought me down
I should have seen it coming,
but my eyes were dim and numb
I guess I'm finally waking up
To this mess I'm running from
I feel like Road Kill, Road Kill
Slaughtered in cold, cold blood
Feel like Road Kill
Face down in the mud
Well, I used to think I knew my way,
but I don't know where I'm going
I feel like Road Kill, Road Kill
Slaughtered in cold, cold blood
Feel like Road Kill
Face down in the mud
Well, I used to think I knew my way,
but I don't know where I'm going...
